Our curriculum includes the following areas: Practical Life Skills, Sensorial, Language, Mathematics, Art, Music, History, Geography, Sciences, Spanish, Social Skills, and Physical Education. They lead the child from a concrete experience toward abstract ideas. This progression allows the child to use the knowledge gained in pursuit of fulfilling his or her unique potential.

Each progressive exercise done with the apparatus presents one difficulty to be mastered and has a specific learning objective. Behavior guidelines are established by the adult in the environment. Each child is given a level of freedom corresponding to his/her abilities.

The child’s continued success is built on previous success. Difficulties are seen as opportunities through which the intellect is sharpened and concentration is extended. The child joyfully undertakes developmentally appropriate work. Reward is found in the satisfaction of accomplishment.

The San Marcos Montessori Program goes through first grade.
